Consultant of the Quarter: Tana VanPrapa
Continually seeking to understand and meet client needs, Tana VanPrapa is a client’s dream consultant—and the newest Kforce Consultant of the Quarter.
Since March 2009, VanPrapa has been placed in three separate engagements as a Tax and Transfer Pricing Specialist, including Newmont Mining and Caridian BCT. Her current engagement with Gambro Renal began as a small project in 2009, but quickly expanded into something much more significant.
VanPrapa’s Gambro supervisor immediately recognized her superior work ethic and value to the company. Wanting to keep her on-board far longer than the original project, the supervisor received approval to create a consulting engagement specifically for VanPrapa, which runs through the end of 2010.
“Tana has always been prompt, pleasant to work with and produces high quality work,” said Deborah Murray, Director of Tax – Americas, Gambro Renal. “I plan to continue to work with her as long as she is available.”
In her current position with Gambro Renal, Tana is working on a transfer pricing project, an assignment that requires her to step out of her naturally quiet demeanor and speak to a wide variety of personnel within the company, including senior management.
“I've been impressed with Tana's lack of hesitation in approaching these managers and asking questions that are not routine for them. When necessary, she will email, call and set up meetings in order to get responses to the questions she has,” said Murray. “Her persistence has paid off. We have a great study that summarizes all functions and results of the company for each year. I have even told her that I think when new hires come on board this should be the first document they are handed to read. It is comprehensive, concise and easy to read, and will be a great asset to the company if we are audited by the IRS or Canada Revenue Agency someday.”
For VanPrapa, her approach to assignments is simple. “I try to see where the client is coming from and deliver what they need.”
She believes that in order to maximize professional development, consultants must be self aware—completing tasks they have been assigned before they are told to do so. It is a quality that her Kforce managers have also recognized.
“[Tana] represents Kforce amazingly well and she is easily one of the most professional consultants I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” said Thomas Mouton, Denver market manager, Kforce Inc.
