ICD-10 Education & Training
Begin with Readiness Assessments
A total conversion to ICD-10-CM/PCS is a big move, one that requires planning and calculated decisions. Kforce Healthcare will perform a series of assessments to gauge your organization’s readiness and how changes will affect your current high-volume/dollar cases.
- Coder Assessments – initial and ongoing assessments to gauge knowledge of ICD-9, Anatomy and Physiology
- Documentation Assessments – a review of specificity and quality in physician clinical documentation practices
Customized Education and Training
Kforce Healthcare will determine the depth and frequency of orientation and education required for each group, as well as the necessary resources. Education will be broken down into five phases with the number of hours/courses tailored to each group.
- Coder Education – Coders will need the highest level of education. Training will be based on specialty (inpatient, outpatient, pro-fee) and include more than 90 courses.
- Physician Education – Education will cover general and specialty-specific issues (orthopedics, OB/GYN, neurology, etc) and will include a focus on enhanced documentation requirements and the physician query processes
- Ancillary Department Education – Specialty-specific education includes a comparison between ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM as well as the impact to current clinical documentation and administrative operations
- Non-Clinical Departments Education – Courses will focus on the impact issues and needs that affect these billing and IT groups
