| Following the three-year pilot, the Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program has expanded nationwide. RACs predominantly target medical necessity issues as they look to reduce incorrectly prepared claims and detect and collect over payments. Through a pre-RAC review, we can assist in determining the current accuracy and quality of your coding. Our pre-RAC reviews encourage HIM, case management, finance and other departments to work together and become RAC-ready. When these departments come together to create a response plan, they become more aware of their interdependence and gain confidence in their ability to effectively handle a recovery audit.
